As the holiday season approaches, concerns about crime rise in Memphis. Top Notch Security Inc., founded in 1999, has become a trusted name in providing security solutions across governmental, commercial, and industrial sectors. Now with 286 employees, Top Notch is one of the fastest-growing security companies in the U.S.
While safeguarding clients is Top Notch’s core focus, CEO Alfred Washington emphasizes the importance of employees and community. Through consultations with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC), Washington implemented strategies to improve recruitment, retention, and job satisfaction. Initiatives like flexible working hours, career development paths, and employee recognition foster a culture where “people want to stay,” as Washington puts it.
Top Notch also plays a vital role in the Memphis community by securing key locations and contributing to public safety and local economic stability. Employing nearly 300 people, the company boosts local employment and strengthens community ties. “Our clients trust us to protect their people and assets, and we take that responsibility seriously,” Washington affirmed.
The TSBDC has been crucial in Top Notch’s growth, supporting workforce development, capital infusion, and operations. Using TSBDC tools like LivePlan and ProfitCents, Washington refined hiring and retention, ensuring sustainable growth.
